Services
I take on a limited number of engagements at a time, so every project gets senior attention from scope to handoff. Here’s what that work usually looks like.
WordPress builds, migrations & rescues
From new custom-theme builds to moving a decade of content out of a legacy CMS — or untangling a build another vendor left behind.
- Custom themes and blocks (native and ACF), Gravity Forms, Kadence, WP All Import
- Migrations from proprietary or third-party CMS platforms with custom scripting
- Custom plugin development — like the multi-step planning tool behind silica-safe.org
- Performance, security, and hosting cleanup (WPEngine and self-hosted)
Advocacy & data tools
Software that turns institutional data into member and public action — my specialty for union and nonprofit clients.
- Legislative scorecards tracking House and Senate votes, with IP-based geolocation
- Interactive maps of spending, resources, or points of interest
- Calculators and comparison tools (union vs. non-union wage data, benefits)
- Organizing toolkits that generate customized flyers, posters, and mailers
Custom application development
Rails and React applications built to client specification and documented so your team can maintain them.
- Ruby on Rails back ends with React front ends, MySQL/Postgres, Docker
- Internal tools: project-request systems, tracking databases, admin dashboards
- E-learning and certification modules, including for federal agency compliance
- Enterprise experience: I designed a Rails CMS that has served 300+ sites and 1,500+ editors
AWS infrastructure & cost optimization
More than a decade running production AWS for a portfolio of client sites — I can set yours up right or make it cheaper.
- EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront, ELB, Route 53, IAM, CloudWatch
- Architecture review and security hardening
- Cost optimization, including reserved-instance planning for compute and database
- SSL management and deployment pipelines
API integrations, automation & AI
Connecting the tools you already use so staff stop doing machine work by hand.
- eCRM sync: Action Network, EveryAction, Mailchimp — supporter data and campaign actions
- Workflow automation with the Asana and Harvest APIs; OAuth flows and webhooks
- Social media integrations and content syndication
- Well-scoped AI/LLM features: drafting, classification, and process automation
The toolbox
Filled tags are the tools I work with most often; outlined ones I know well enough to ship with.

Ways to engage
Project
A discrete build with a written scope, typically 1–3 months. Best for a defined tool, site, or migration.
Ongoing
A standing monthly engagement for organizations that need a senior developer in their corner without a full-time hire.
White-label
Overflow capacity for agencies: your brand, your PM process, my code. I do this today for several agency partners — scope it, hand it off, get it back.
A good fit: small development and design teams (I can recommend trusted partners when you need more hands), clear stakeholders, and work in the WordPress, Rails/React, or AWS worlds. If your project isn’t a fit, I’ll say so and point you to someone better.
